The book tells the life of Professor Ferenc Ungar, a renowned orthopedist, born in the 1930s in Budapest in a family of Jews, who escaped the Shoah thanks to his Protestant mother. Forced to leave his country after the invasion of the Red Army, he was then able to live a new life in Italy. Halfway between the biography and the novel, the book reminds us also about the victims of too many tragedies that have bloodied the twentieth century.
